What this take shows. Two synchronized views of the same population: on the left, the actual grievance graph G (the ground truth, what each agent is really carrying); on the right, the felt graph F (what each agent has access to when deciding how to act). The visible gap between the two — the distortion δ — is structured. In-group edges tend to suppress (F < G: "I'm not really angry at her"), out-group edges tend to project (F > G).
