The Paradox
Named after Will Rogers' joke: "When the Okies left Oklahoma for California, they raised the
average intelligence of both states." Moving an element that is below Group A's mean
but above Group B's mean raises both averages simultaneously.
Real-world: Improved cancer diagnostics reclassify mild Stage I patients to Stage II.
Both stages show improved survival rates -- with zero actual medical improvement.
