Battle Log

Type VI Secretion System

The T6SS is a molecular spear that bacteria use to inject toxic effectors directly into neighboring cells upon contact. Siblings carry immunity proteins that neutralize their own toxins. This creates a "bacterial warfare" system where kin are protected but competitors are killed. Found in Pseudomonas, Vibrio, and many other species.
