ðŸĶī Somitogenesis

Clock and Wavefront model: oscillating gene expression (Notch, Wnt, FGF) combined with a receding wavefront creates periodic somite segments in vertebrate embryos.

Oscillation period (steps)
Cell-cell synchronization
Generation: 0
Somites Formed: 0
Wavefront Position: 0
PSM Length: 0
Clock Phase: 0°
Clock-Wavefront Model: Cells in the presomitic mesoderm (PSM) oscillate with ~2 hour period (mouse). The wavefront (determination front) recedes posteriorly. When oscillating cells cross the wavefront at the right phase, they segment to form a somite boundary.
