Migrants fuel flight with
lipids. Birds stopping at rich sites gain 1-3% body mass per day. Barrier crossings (oceans, deserts) require heavy fuel loads.
Watch the warbler migrate south, stopping at sites to refuel. Green = food-rich. Food depletes with competition.
